The Australian Diversity Project

Welcome to the Australian Diversity Project

We are as individual and unique as our fingerprint pattern, which ironically remain the same from our birth to our death. The same cannot be said for our complicated and unpredictable personal lives. Many Australians while navigating through their own journey in life, find themselves in situations of overwhelming confusion and uncertainty. Whether from finding the person who they most trusted, becoming the most feared, or from unresolved past or present trauma. Now with the pandemic, many Australians have become physically disconnected from each other, dividing our states and emotionally scarring so many of us. We are resilient and have the strength and the ability to adapt and bounce back from these difficult times together.

Our Mission

To raise awareness and support innovative Australian community organisations with a focus on diverse and vulnerable minority groups in our society. These organisations have become a catalyst for social change. The Australian Diversity Project will through its Pledges and sales of Australian manufactured gift products financially support and acknowledge these vital organisations. Without social change, we cannot progress as a society.

Our Vision

To inspire unity and embrace diversity, bringing Australia together and to give hope and healing from the emotional scarring and uncertainty caused by the pandemic. To come together and walk forward with our Indigenous Australians. To listen, respect and value their stories and knowledge to their intrinsically linked spiritual connection and innate love of their land. An Australia where all Women and Girls are represented, respected and valued as equals. An Australia where all Women and Girls will be safe in their homes, educational institutions, workplaces and out in their communities.

Our Story

A Melbourne grandmother, listening to U2's pride (in the name of love) too many times while in lockdown, reflected on Australia at this present time becoming inspired to focus on us all coming together, to move forward together as reminded on our Australian Coat of Arms. The Kangaroo and Emu only walk forward. A symbol of our progressive and forward thinking Nation.

Who We Support

The Torch Project | St Kilda, VIC

A charity organisation with a cultural, pragmatic approach to support Indigenous offenders and ex-offenders in Victoria through its Indigenous Arts in Prisons and community programs. The program supports the development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience through cultural strengthening and artistic expression.

The Torch assists artists to reconnect with their culture, earn income from Art sales with 100% of the sale price going directly to the artist, foster new networks and to pursue educational and creative industry avenues upon their release.

Indigenous Australians make up around 2% of the Australian adult population but represent 28% of the national adult prison population. Indigenous men are 15 times more likely to go to prison than non-Indigenous men and Indigenous Women are 21 times more likely to go to prison than non-Indigenous Women. The Australian Diversity Project is privileged to support The Torch Project and will pledge 25% of all profits from the sale of our gift products.
